Here's What's New:
2012...
New Year's Day... What a Beautiful Day! It was just right for walking or biking on the Dunedin Causeway with it's Azure Blue/Green waters leading out to Honeymoon Island - see more detail about this wonderful causeway below. It was also perfect weather for Golfing!
Discover Tarpon's Treasures! Take advantage of the Natural Sponge Capital of the World...Tarpon Springs Florida, with its quaint shops, the sponge docks and boats! This is a special "must see" place we take family and friends when they visit us in our home town of Dunedin. Winter and Spring are always beautiful here in Dunedin, FL! Temperatures during the Winter are usually in the 60's and the 70’s. Spring brings temperatures in the mid 80's. And then Summer...(It was a HOT one, but it was hot nearly everywhere throughout the lower 48). During the hot summer months, we enjoy walking in the nearby in-door air conditioned mall. One of our favorite things to do after our walk is to visit the food court and feast on Japanese teriaki chicken, fried rice and vegetables, freshly prepared by Jarku. (I first savored this delicacy at the down-town mall in Las Vegas, NV).
Winter is here again and gives us several COLD days in Florida. However, the weather turns nice and balmy! December and January... It usually a comfortable 71 - 77 degrees as we walk on the Dunedin Causeway. There are even a few bi-kinis, believe it or not! Next Spring turns into Summer and the "snow-birds" from our Northern states and Canada (and even England) return back home.
February, March, April... it was again shirt-sleeve and shorts weather! Every time we walked on the Causeway, with the lovely turquoise water on both sides, the fishing Pelicans, the souring Seagulls, and the feeding Dolphins... reminded us of the reason we now call Dunedin our home.
This morning as we walked in the Gulf breezes on the Dunedin Causeway, dolphins were jumping and fishing right along the shore near us. There was a kite surfer, many cayaks, sail and motorboats. The Caladesi Connection ferry departs every morning at 10:am and throughout the day from Honeymoon Island. Gorgeous red, white, pink, and yellow flowers are blooming, reminding us that the beauty of this causeway is one of the main reasons we choose to live here! Walking from one end of the causeway to the other gives a wonderful new perspective (view of the wide expanse of acqua marine water on both sides) as we head back the other way. Near the beginning of the causeway, we paused briefly, sitting quietly looking out over the beautiful azure water while we waited for the sail boats to go through the draw bridge. Digressing just a little, our "old home town" of Las Vegas, NV, where we lived for over five years, had a record snow-fall of 3.5 inches this past winter. And... we know that the ski-slopes of Mt. Charleston, just a few miles outside of Las Vegas, had a much heavier snow-fall. Back to Florida. We live about 5 miles from the Dunedin Causeway, with fantastic clear blue water on both sides, leading out to Honeymoon Island on the Gulf. This island and Caladesi (just a ferry-boat ride away) are known for the two best beaches in Florida! We love taking long walks on the Dunedin Causeway 4 – 5 days out of the week. What a wonderful, exhilarating way to stay in shape! Discover all that Florida, our home base for travel has to offer...
On our Princess (Love Boat) cruise, we visited several Island Resorts on the way back from Caracas, Venezuela to our port of embarcation, San Juan, Puerto Rico, including...
Granada Spices! St. Thomas/St.John, U.S. Virgin Islands... A Wonderful Enchanting Trip on "Old Route 66!- New Mexico - "Land of Enchantment!"
Las Vegas... We enjoyed our visits so much, that we stayed for Over 5 Years!- Fabulous Las Vegas and Surroundings!
