Adventure Travels... Ormond Beach To Key West

We enjoyed living in Ormond Beach on the Atlantic, just a 15-minute drive to the Speedway, home of the Daytona 500 and Pepsi (now Coke Zero) 400.

This gave us a "home-base" for many beautiful day trip excursions, Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach St. Augustine (the oldest city) and surroundings, Silver Springs in Ocala, the Kennedy Space Center, and exciting week-long vacations like the one to Key West.

  • Coral Gables and South Beach...
On our way to Key West, we stopped over night in Coral Gables and visited famous South Beach.

  • On to Key Largo...

The island gained fame as the setting for the 1948 Humphrey Bogart-Lauren Bacall film Key Largo, although it was filmed entirely on a Warner Brothers sound stage in Hollywood.[3] The island's post office in Rock Harbor, which had been named after a nearby cove, changed its name to Key Largo after the film's success and pressure from local businessmen. It did this so that everyone living north of Tavernier would have a Key Largo address and the cancellation would say Key Largo instead of Rock Harbor
