San Francisco - Romantic - Adventures

Our Favorite romantic getaway is San Francisco...

Upon arriving, we drove straight to the Motel at Fisherman's Wharf, where our room looked out across the Bay...

Alcatraz Island

And...

The Golden Gate Bridge off to our left and the Bay Bridge to the right.

We love staying at...

Fisherman's Wharf, where we can tour the Cannery;watch street entertainers; take in the Ghiradelli Chocolate Factory; have an Irish coffee at the Buena Vista Cafe, where it was invented; sample "walk-away" crab and shrimp cocktails; eat shrimp louis and dungeness crab at famous restaurants like Alioto's and Castagnola's; take a harbor tour around Alcatraz Island;and of course jump on one of the Cable Cars. (We used to be able to help in turning the Cable Cars around).

On our Cable Car ride from Fisherman's Wharf, We hang on the side and get off to visit China Town and have some exquisite and inexpensive Chinese food, like shrimp with lobster sauce; before site seeing down-town at...

Union Square, Sir Francis Drake Hotel, the Financial District, etc. San Francisco has so many charming and historic places to visit, including... China Town,

Lombard Street - the crookedest street in America,

Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill

The famous Japanese Tea Garden, Grace Cathedral, Fisherman's Wharf with Pier 39, fabulous restaurants, and Golden Gate Park.

Pier 39

Pier 39's harbor seals

Near-by and "Day trips"...

Across the Golden Gate Bridge is Sausalito where we eat delicious hamburgers at Zack's restaurant - looking back across the bay at the San Francisco skyline, Fisherman's Wharf and Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill.

We enjoy driving the short distance (across the Golden Gate Bridge) to...

Muir Woods with its majestic centuries old Giant Redwoods. It is so cool and quiet, with wonderful aromas of the trees and forest undergrowth. It's impossible to describe the incredible feeling of awe in this peaceful forest, looking up at these ancient giants, some of which are over 3,000 years old.

Of course, a "wine tasting" train trip to...

Napa Valley is a must for us when we visit San Francisco!
