Vegas-and-Surrounding-Attractions

Las Vegas... The Brightest City on Earth! We enjoyed visiting so much, that we decided to make it our home, living here for over 5 years. "24-Hour Action" is the motto of this city that never sleeps! Even the golf courses are lit so that people can take advantage of the cooler night temperatures.
Freemont Street Experience
Having enjoyed our visits to the Las Vegas strip and surroundings, we moved to Summerlin, Del Webb Sun City, when we semi-retired. Perched 1200 feet above the city, our home looked out over the Las Vegas Valley toward the Strip. What a view!
Del Webb Sun City - Summerlin
The gorgeous recreation center near our home had an in-door pool with a juccuzi the size of a small room. The view from the exercise room's treadmills was fantastic, looking out over the Las Vegas valley.
From our back yard, we could watch golfers on the beautiful course just below our home.
Golf
Hot Air Balloon Rides
In the early mornings, we looked out at the most beautiful sun-rises I have seen anywhere. Just after sun-rise, most mornings, several beautiful hot-air balloons floated above the valley. Many times these gorgeous, silent vehicles swooshed very close -right over our back yard. Some descended onto the golf-course just below our home.
DAY TRIPS
Exciting exotic "day-trips" and adventure week-end excursions surround Las Vegas...
Mt. Charleston...
Did you know that cooler temperatures and even skiing are just a short distance outside Las Vegas on Mt. Charleston?
Many times, we escaped the desert heat to experience the beauty of Mt. Charleston. Our eyes feasted on the deep greenery, trees, and flowers as we watched squirrels chasing each other and birds floating on the air. Breathing in deeply the cool mountain fragrances of pine and shrubbery was invigorating, refreshing and rejuvenating. And, at the summit - in the spring and fall, we even had snow-ball fights!
On one December Evening, in attempting to drive up the mountain to a lodge - for a Christmas party, the snow became so heavy that we were forced to turn around and head back to Vegas. So... we decided to play Bingo at Sam's Town, one of the popular (frequented by "locals") hotel and casino; where my wife won over $2,500... turning the evening into a great event!
So many attractions that we visited are within a few hours or
a "day-trip's" drive from Las Vegas!
Several of our Favorites are:
Red Rock Canyon - right up Charleston Blvd.
Valley of Fire,
Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, just beyond Boulder City,
London Bridge at Lake Havasu, AZ,
Bryce Canyon, UT and,
Zion Park, UT
